Susan Lee Whitney, 70, of Monroe, Wis., and formerly of Perry, Wheaton, Ill., and Beloit, Wis., passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wis.

She was born the daughter of Albert and Doris (Anderson) Shepherd March 15, 1948, in Omaha, Neb.

Sue was united in marriage to Ralph Whitney June 8, 1968.

Sue was deeply loved as a bride, mom, grandma and friend to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was an extraordinary woman with the kindest, most loving and joyful spirit. In the presence of Sue, you would find the comfort of home.

You would remember her giddy smile and contagious laughter as she found happiness in the littlest things in life. One of her favorite pastimes was enjoying time with her beloved husband and dog as they shared morning coffee and cocktails on their decks in the evening.

Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ralph Whitney of Monroe; her daughters, Laurie (Marvin) Massey and Jennifer (Dave Dahms) Whitney; grandchildren, Whitney and Spencer Massey, Jessica Whitney-Johnson, Cassaundra Thonen and Rachel Johnson; siblings, Janet Shepherd-Meier and Robert (Larry Sonsthagen) Shepherd. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Chadwell, Michelle and Matthew Meier; and her loving companion, their dog, Buddy; and granddog, Scout.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Shepherd.
