Texas couple arrested for allegedly printing fake $100 bills

A Texas couple was arrested Thursday after law enforcement allegedly found a counterfeiting operation in their West Des Moines motel room.

Luis Alberto DeLeon, 40, of Victoria, Texas, was charged with ongoing criminal conduct and two counts of forgery.

Karen Maria DeLeon, 40, of Victoria, Texas, was charged with ongoing criminal conduct and two counts of forgery.

According to court records, the DeLeons entered a West Des Moines grocery store Jan. 24 and “passed a counterfeit $100 bill.”

The DeLeons were “captured on security footage passing the bill and then entering a Yellow cab,” which transported them to a West Des Moines motel, according to court records.

An investigation was conducted by officers of the West Des Moines Police Department, and a search warrant was executed Jan. 28 at the motel, where “detectives located counterfeit currency, along with a complete counterfeit operation,” according to court records.

The DeLeons “have also passed counterfeit bills in other cities,” according to court records.

Luis DeLeon is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 8 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is innocent until and unless proven guilty.

  1. While I see the importance of sharing this information even though it is a non-violent crime, I guess I can see where you justify this. However, it is a complete invasion of privacy to not only share but to publish my grandparents’ address. Please show some professionalism and either edit the post or delete it all together.
