The Selfie Mist

The selfie is a universal icon.
Its presence is felt everywhere
But remains only digital mist.
We are both the subject and object of our attention.

There is a voyeuristic joy of looking at oneself
And transmitting one’s image to persons known
and unknown.
Greedy are we for attention.

The selfie arm expands out scope
To include friends and noteworthy persons.
The number of likes inflates our ego.

Our legacy,
Weightless mist images
Exist.
Until we scroll down,
Click,
And then they vanish
Yet we remain in place.
