DALLAS CENTER, Iowa — The Twisted Corn Tavern announced Saturday it will close until May 1 in order to quarantine after an employee of the popular bar and restaurant tested positive for Covid-19.

The mother-daughter team of Juanita Slaughter and Randi Boelkes celebrated their three-year anniversary April 10 in the midst of an unexpected global pandemic, and an employee who last worked at the tavern April 16 has tested positive for the infectious disease.

“While our employee was not exposed at Twisted Corn Tavern, we want to do what is best for our staff and our community,” said Randi and Juanita. “We want to flatten the curve. We want everyone healthy.”

They said the 14-day quarantine period was calculated from April 16, so they plan to reopen May 1 “for whatever version of business is normal that day,” whether carry-out service or dining in.
