ADEL, Iowa — The Dallas County Sheriff’s office announced Monday afternoon that the Sunday night house fire at 22760 Laredo Trail in rural Adel is under investigation as a case of arson and attempted murder.

The 911 caller who reported the fire at 7:48 p.m. said that “someone poured gasoline inside the house and lit it on fire,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The residence was actively burning when the Minburn Volunteer Fire Department arrived. The fire was eventually controlled by firefighters but not before the house sustained significant damage from the fire.
