A Fort Dodge man died of injuries he sustained in an ATV rollover accident Sunday night on a granular-surface road north of Minburn.

MINBURN, Iowa — A Fort Dodge man died of injuries he sustained in an ATV rollover accident Sunday night on a granular-surface road north of Minburn.

Sean William Springer, 32, of 118 N. 22nd St., Fort Dodge, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 169 and turned eastbound on 170th Street when the vehicle he was in left the roadway and entered the north ditch of 170th Street.

The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m.

A second occupant of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene by Dallas County EMS. A second ATV was traveling in company with Springer’s vehicle.

The cause of the fatal accident is under investigation at this hour. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office said speed and alcohol might have been factors in the mishap but emphasized the investigation is ongoing.

Springer was described by a friend as “a young local business owner with a promising future” who “was a great guy, friend, son.” He was reportedly traveling with family members when the accident occurred.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Perry Police Department, Minburn First Responders, Minburn Fire and Rescue, Dallas County EMS and Mercy One Medical Center responded.
