UPDATE: Stratford woman cited in two-vehicle mishap Tuesday

Drivers escaped with minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when a northbound Hyundai station wagon was struck by a southbound Cadillac Escalade on U.S. Highway 169 just south of Iowa Highway 44.

A Stratford, Iowa, woman was issued a citation for passing on the wrong side, failure to maintain control and driving while license under suspension Tuesday after her vehicle struck another vehicle in the 24000 block of N Avenue.

The two-car mishap occurred about 3 p.m. on U.S. Highway 169 about 500 yards south of Iowa Highway 44 and left both vehicles demolished.

Sherry Troutwine of Stratford was transported to Methodist West Medical Center by the Dallas County EMS after striking a vehicle driven by Mary Meyers of Minburn. A passenger in Meyers’ vehicle was also taken to Methodist Medical Center.

Dallas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Bowers said Troutwine was traveling northbound in a , a maroon Hyundai station wagon when she “lost control and then came back on the road and got hit by the other vehicle,” Meyers’ Cadillac Escalade.

Damage to Troutwine’s vehicle was estimated at $12,000, and damage to Meyers’ vehicle was estimated at $15,000.

Responding to the incident with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office were the Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department and the Dallas County EMS.
