WOODWARD, Iowa — The 18-year-old male who ran away early Saturday from the Woodward Academy and was later returned to the facility was again reported missing from the campus about 11:45 a.m.

The youth escaped about 1:30 a.m. and was later located about 3:45 a.m. in the vicinity of Iowa Highway 141 and T Avenue near the Moran curve, according to authorities. His second flight was reported late Saturday morning.

A description of the young person and the direction of his travel are not available at this time.

The Woodward Police Department, Woodward Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office assisted the Woodward Academy in the search. The academy is owned by Sequel Youth and Family Services.

  1. Hopefully, this time he borrowed one of the cell phones that the guys have hidden on campus and arranged a ride. If he does not get away this time, it might be a big boy jail (prison) for this 18-year-old young man. Just when does running away from Woodward Academy become escape like when someone runs from Fort Des Moines? He is an adult so should he not be treated like one? Another question: why are these guys running so frequently? Coincidence? Or is there something going on at that facility?
