WOODWARD — A 20-8 first quarter edge turned into a 42-17 bulge at the intermission as Van Meter strolled to a 73-36 win over Woodward-Granger in West Central Conference boys cage action Friday.
The Bulldogs (4-0, 4-0) showed little mercy after the break, outscoring their hosts, 21-11, in the third quarter to hold a 63-28 advantage entering the final period.
Now 3-3 overall and 1-3 in WCC play, W-G was led by eight points from Marcus McConahay, with Reese Jamison and Brody Easter scoring five points apiece while Brady Aunspach and Bryce Achenbach added four points apiece. J.P. Nixon and Cameron Hoyt both had three points for the Hawks, with Bodie Harrison and Derick Morgan each scoring two points.
Achenbach, Jamison, McConahay and Nixon collected three rebounds apiece, with Achenbach making four steals to go with six assists while Jamison finished with two assists.
W-G visits Ogden Tuesday before hosting Madrid Friday.
