A Van Meter woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a Van Meter man in the home.

Kimberly Nadine Murphy, 25, of 121 S. Hazel St., Van Meter, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 3:45 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Hazel Street, where officers of the Van Meter Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, a “verbal altercation” began when Murphy entered a room in the residence designated “exclusively for the use of the victim, and the altercation allegedly “then became physical, and the victim physically removed” Murphy “from his room.”

The officers observed on the victim “scratch marks to both sides of his neck and on his chest and abdomen,” according to court records.

Murphy was held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

  1. Just to post the ending of this story her charges got dropped, so just because things get posted doesn’t mean that they got the facts. Van meter police chief is a prime example of why cops get a bad name. Told me his job wasn’t to protect and serve me or isn’t in his description to make me feel safe instead he only cares about his power and he abuses it. By far the worst law enforcement I’ve ever interacted with .
