Velma Gruber, 86, of Granger and formerly of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at her home in Granger, Iowa.
Velma Ann Gruber was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Pontiac, Michigan, to E. J. and Hattie Lucille (Putnam) Cooper.
She graduated from high school in Cass City, Michigan.
Velma was united in marriage to John Gruber in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dec. 28, 1993.
She worked at and retired from General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan.
Velma enjoyed going bowling.
In death she rejoins her husband, John; parents, E. J. and Lucille Cooper; four siblings; and a step-son, Joseph Gruber.
Left to cherish Velma’s memory are her children, Valerie Albrecht of Granger, Pamela (Michael) Finestead of Granger and Kim (Michael) Low of Davenport, Florida; step-sons, William (Becky) Gruber of Dothan, Alabama and Michael (Daureen) Gruber of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven step- great-grandchildren; 10 siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at Velma’s home. Memorials will be given to American Cancer Society or Unity Point Hospice of Urbandale and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care.
