DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Wednesday, Sept. 11 in honor of Patriot Day, first observed on Sept. 14, 2001, as the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of the Terrorist Attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Flags on the Iowa State Capitol Building, in the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state will be flown at half-staff.

In issuing her order, Reynolds encouraged all patriotic individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
