WOODWARD — The Iowa Girls Coaches Association recently released their Academic All-State squad, with Woodward-Granger’s Mary Hansen earning recognition.
To receive the plaudits, a player must be a senior with a GPA of 3.75 or higher on a 4-0 scale. Minimum scores of 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT are also required.
Hansen sparkled on the court this season, finishing with 247 kills, 372 assists, 211 digs and 27 blocks while serving 219-of-252 with 39 aces. Her 239 career aces is second-best in school history.
W-G was 115-42 overall in her four years with the Hawks, finishing 30-2 and winning three consecutive West Central Conference championships. The Hawks have lost only three times (all in the postseason) to school their size or smaller in the past three seasons.
