Woodward-Granger will wear a "58" decal on their helmets this year in memory of Drew Jacobson, who would have been a senior this season.

WOODWARD — Woodward-Granger junior Drew Jacobson, son of Russ Jacobson of Woodward, is currently a patient in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of a Des Moines hospital.

Jacobson is suffering from acute congestive heart failure, which occurred during a basketball practice Wednesday evening. His fall at the practice was a result of his medical emergency and not the cause of the event. He was taken by Life-Flight to the hospital and has been placed in a medically induced coma while a bypass machine helps his heart and lungs to heal.

His family approved the release of his name in the hope that accurate information would quell any rumors regarding his condition and the events leading up to it. They said Drew is not on life support, and they wished to stress to the public their appreciation for the concern shown for him.

It may be several days before additional information on his condition is known or clarified, they said.

As a PICU patient, Jacobson is not allowed visitors.

ThePerryNews.com will update his condition when information is released.
