VAN METER — The Woodward-Granger matmen were 39-30 victors over Van Meter in a dual meet Thursday.
The Hawks received 24 points via forfeit, as the host Bulldogs did not contest matches against W-G grapplers Tate Lettow (120 pounds), Colt Palmer (126), Austin Scharlau (152) and Tanner Vermaas (182).
Cody Fisher (195) pinned Noah Hale in 1 minute, 19 seconds and Tyler Lawernson (220) nailed Tyler Erdman in 4:42 for 12 team points, with Cole Carman claiming a 10-8 decision over Bryce Cole at 138 pounds.
W-G will compete Saturday in the 17-team Perry Invitational, with wrestling to begin at 9 a.m. A total of 30 ranked grapplers will be in action at the event.
