Jeffery Dakota Arnold, 29, of Waukee was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Wednesday on charges of child endangerment, domestic abuse assault-strangulation and fifth-degree criminal mischief.

A Waukee man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Wednesday in connection with an incident last summer in Van Meter in which he allegedly strangled a woman in their apartment.

Jeffery Dakota Arnold, 29, of 757 Ashby Dr., Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood, child endangerment and fifth-degree criminal mischief.

The incident occurred Aug. 8, 2020, about 5:30 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Hazel Street in Van Meter, where Arnold “became enraged” when he “was awakened by his 3-month-old crying,” according to court records.

The victim told law enforcement that Arnold “walked into the bedroom and told her he was going to beat her up because she told him to leave her alone.” When Arnold afterward exited the apartment, the victim “locked the apartment door for her safety and went back into the bedroom.”

Arnold allegedly “kicked the door open to force entry” and “then grabbed her by the throat and slammed her on the bed next to the 3-month-old” and “began choking her by placing both hands around her neck, cutting off her airway so she could not breath,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “two fingerprint-size red marks on the right side of her neck, evident by capillary breakage on the skin,” according to court records, and the apartment door “showed damage from forced entry.”

A warrant for Arnold’s arrest was ordered Aug. 21, 2020, in Dallas County District Court and served July 14. Arnold is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,500 cash or surety bond. He ii scheduled for a hearing July 29 in Dallas County District Court.

Arnold was convicted of assault while displaying a deadly weapon in 2015 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2018 in Polk County District Court.
