Nikolay Laryy Lanham, 29, of Des Moines was arrested Saturday in Waukee on a charge of second-offense domestic abuse assault.

A Des Moines man was arrested Saturday evening in Waukee after allegedly beating the mother of his son.

Nikolay Larry Lanham, 29, of 2419 61st St., Des Moines, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of S.E. Maple Leaf Lane in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, an argument occurred between Lanham and the victim “over alcohol” that Lanham “had been drinking.”

According to court records, “The son said he was sitting in his room when he heard ‘bad words from daddy.’ He heard a loud bang, and he looked into the living room and saw” Lanham “hurting” the victim. They child said that “dad kept hurting her.”

An adult witness said Lanham allegedly “shoved” the victim “onto the couch and punched her six to eight times in the back of the head with a closed fist.”

Officers observed “red marks on the back of her head where” the witness was allegedly struck. The victim “was seen by medics and cleared.”

Lanham “did not want to give an account of what occurred,” according to court records.

Lanham is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 8 in Dallas County District Court.

Lanham was convicted of assault and first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2011 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault on peace officers and others in June 2013 and again in October 2013 in Polk County District Court.

  1. This will be the result: probation and he will go to a class that the attendees all call “Bitch Beater’s Class” and take it as seriously as what they call it. And in a few months, we will read about his next arrest. Too bad she does not have a brother or a father who society would allow to take care of her problem with a serious beatdown and a very clear warning to never be near her again because that would be all it takes for a repeat of the beating whether she wants them to or not. Which is better, old school resolution of the matter or an inevitable repeat of him punching her?

  2. He’s 5’11” and 150 lbs. Forget daddy or big brother. Does she have any sisters available to beat on this tough guy?
