The incident began about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of S.E. University Avenue, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Southard allegedly “punched her in the back with a closed fist,” according to court records, “and then attempted to place her in the bath tub, but she was able to break free.”

Southard allegedly then “threw the victim on the bed, and this was when the victim stated she had troubles breathing,” according to court records.

than cooperative with officers,” according to court records.

The suspect was told to remain seated on a chair, however, she refused to comply and attempted to retrieve something from her
room. At this time, Officers advised her

When the officers directed Southard “to put her hands behind her back,” Southard “refused to comply” and “began resisting” and was at length “assisted to the ground and handcuffed after a short fight with officers,” according to court records.

Southard was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
