A West Des Moines woman was arrested late Thursday for allegedly assaulting another West Des Moines woman and smashing her windshield.

Mariyah Renee Perry, 18, of 1148 62nd St., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The incident began about 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of 62nd Street, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who said that she and Perry had “a verbal altercation that turned physical,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Perry allegedly “struck her in the head and back with a piece of metal gutter downspout, causing scratching,” according to court records.

Perry also allegedly “broke the victim’s windshield to her vehicle during the assault, resulting in approximately $500 in damages” to the 2001 Toyota Echo, according to court records.

Perry is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Perry was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in June in Dallas County District Court.
