One of the vehicles involved in the collision at 25693 141st St. near Woodward came to rest in the median.

At least one person was transported by lifeflight Monday night after a vehicle reportedly traveling east in the westbound lanes of Iowa Highway 141 caused a head-on collision between Bouton and Woodward near Quinlan Avenue.

The number of persons injured and the extent of their injuries is unknown at this hour. Two Dallas County EMS ambulances along with the air ambulance were on the scene of the mishap that occurred about 6:15 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol was the supervising agency in the incident. Also responding were the Perry Police Department, Woodward Police Department, Woodward First Responders, Woodward Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS.

One of the vehicles involved, a four-door passenger car, came to rest in the median directly in front of the old Leaming Ranch at 25693 141st St. To the east of the first vehicle, a second vehicle came to rest in the ditch on the south side of the eastbound lanes of Iowa Highway 141.

The collision hampered eastbound traffic on Iowa Highway 141, which was detoured northward toward Bouton on O Avenue while emergency crews worked at the accident scene.

  1. For the life of me, I have a hard time understanding how someone could drive that distance the wrong way on 141 and not know it. I can’t think of any side roads intersecting 141 between the Bouton turnoff and the Leaming ranch. It could very well be the car traveled east on the wrong lane as far back as Perry.

    • There is a road between Bouton and Leaming Ranch, but the accident happened right by Leaming Ranch. She either got on at the Woodward exit, or she turned left off of Quinlan Ave and treated 141 as a two lane road. She was heading west in the eastbound lanes.
