Dallas County Fair Queen Savannah David of Granger, right, was named "Miss Outstanding Leadership" at the 2016 Iowa State Fair. She is pictured after being named one of six queen finalists out of 103 entries in the pageant.

The ranks of Dallas County’s female residents will be surveyed for beauties of body and soul as the 2017 Dallas County Fair Board seeks nominations for the title of queen of the fair.

“It is that time of year again,” Sally Ross Kilkenny, coordinator of the queen contest, said Monday. “I am looking for lovely young ladies interested in competing in the Dallas County Fair Queen competition. They must live in Dallas County or immediately adjacent and participant in Dallas County activities — school, church, 4H, FFA etc.”

Kilkenny said queen applicants must be at least 16 years old by the start of the Iowa State Fair but cannot be more than 21 years old.
