DCH celebrates 70th anniversary with gala fundraiser Friday

ADEL, Iowa — The 70th anniversary of the Dallas County Hospital was celebrated Friday night with a gala at the County Lane Lodge in rural Adel.

Some 250 guests shared a tasty meal, catered by Lidderdale Country Store, and enjoyed a varied program, with ESPN broadcast personage Shawn Kenney serving as the master of ceremonies.

Attendees heard brief remarks from DCH CEO Angela Mortoza, DCH Foundation Director Tom Harmsen, DCH Foundation Board Chair Donna Emmert, DCH Board of Trustees Chair Joelle Miner, DCH Medical Director Dr. Eric Ash and DCH Trustee Mary Laborde.

Also diverting were performances by Mr. Magic Jonathan May and musician Alex Schroeder as well as a 30-item silent auction, with all proceeds from the evening helping to finance renovations to the hospital’s surgical facilities and an expansion.

The DCH medical service providers were represented by Amy Harland, Deb Medici-Feick, Sheri Schroeder, Stephanie Cox, Lauren Swan, Lindsay Weber, Dr. Steven Sohn, Dr. Nick Palmer, Dr. Michael Simons, Dr. David Huante, Dr. Eric Ash, Dr. Alexander Schmidt and Dr. Benjamin Paulson.

The DCH staff were represented by Mortoza, Harmsen, Michelle Hersom, Beth Dorsett, Brenda Clouse, Judy Hillman, Trisda Nielsen, Kielyn Tutton, Jake Wendler, Deane Baldwin, Margo Johnson, Kristin Sohn, Cindy Peeler, Christine Holder Mecozzi, Bryan Weringa, Jeff Edgar, Kevin Leininger, Clint Lutterman and Maggie Nugent.

The DCH Foundation members attended, including Deb Derry, Dirk Cavanaugh, Joseph Shelly, Christie Creighton, Diane Spellman, Lindsay Weber and Lois Hoger.

The DCH Trustees attended, including Dirk Cavanaugh, Joelle Miner, Joseph Shelly, Marc Meyer, Dennis Cochran and Mary Laborde.
