Congratulations to anyone expecting a baby! You deserve a gift!

And you will receive one if you attend a baby shower Sept. 19 hosted by the Maternal Child Health program of Dallas County Public Health and Nursing Services and the Adel First Christian Church.

The Maternal Child Health program is a free in-home support program for all moms, parents-to-be and babies residing in Dallas County.

The home visitors are a licensed nurse and a medical social worker, and they help new moms know what to expect, talk out problems and decrease health risks for mom and baby.

The free program adds a layer of support, in addition to regular OB visits.

Dallas County Public Health offers its maternal child health visits to pregnant women at their home or a location they choose, scheduled at a time that is convenient for the mom.

The visits are free of charge, thanks to 4R Kids Iowa. Grants and donations provide reward gifts to participants as they achieve goals.

The community baby shower will be thrown Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 4-5 p.m. at the Adel First Christian Church, 218 N. Ninth St. in Adel. Please use the east entrance facing U.S. Highway 169.

All expecting mothers currently living in Dallas County are invited to attend this shower, and those who do will receive a gift.

Please RSVP to Rose Birt by Sept. 15 at 515-993-3750.

Ann Cochran is the Health Navigation Coordinator at the Dallas County Public Health Department.
