A routine traffic stop in Perry at W. Third and Warford streets about 10:15 p.m. took an unexpected turn Tuesday when the diver of the vehicle with Texas license plates fled the scene with a Perry Police Department officer in hot pursuit.

A high-speed chase followed, with the Lone Star car reaching speeds in excess of 110 mph as it fled south on County Road P58 ahead of the pursuing Perry Police Department patrol vehicle.

After some circuitous travel on gravel roads, the fugitive vehicle turned eastbound on the Minburn Road, County Road F31, and eventually arrived in Minburn, speeding along city streets before leaving the roadway at First and Walnut streets.

Officers from the Perry Police Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office took two female suspects into custody at gunpoint. They were described in radio traffic as non-compliant.

Charges are pending against the fleeing couple, whose identities are unknown at this hour. They were transported to the Perry Police station.
