Perry Police Det. Jerome Hill, left, will retire next month from the Perry Police Department, and he and his wife, Leslie Button Pederson Hill, and their three children will move to Clarke County.

Fifteen-year veteran of the Perry Police Department Det. Sgt. Jerome Hill has tendered his resignation from the department effective Feb. 14, Police Chief Eric Vaughn told the Perry City Council Monday night.

“We’re losing a valuable member of our public safety team,” Vaughn told the council.

“I’m hoping he can join us at the next council meeting so we can thank him personally,” said Mayor Jay Pattee. “He’s been a great man to have around, and he will be sorely missed, but we’ll talk more about that at the next meeting.”

Hill and his wife, Leslie Button Pederson Hill, and their three children plan to relocate to Clarke County, Vaughn said, where Hill has roots in the Osceola area.

Hill was unavailable for comment Monday night.
