Both the Bluejay and Jayette golfers played on familiar links Thursday, with the Perry boys entertaining Winterset and North Polk while Carroll was the guest of the Perry girls at the Perry Golf and Country Club.

Carroll scored a 195-238 win over Perry in the girls meet, with a 190 from North Polk winning the boys competition. The Winterset boys finished with a 198 while Perry totaled 268 strokes.

Delaney Eiteman led the Jayettes with a 49, with MaryLou Ledesma shooting a new personal best 59 and Bryce Eastman a new personal low of 60. Ainsley Marburger also played for Perry, recording a 70.

“It was good to be home,” Jayette head coach Joel Happel said. “It was not a win but I am still happy with all the girls. Everyone hit the ball much better, and MaryLou and Bryce had their personal bests. Delaney showed some real toughness and maturity — she could have scored even better.”

Carroll, Happel said, was “solid as usual.”

Grace Pettitt and Laura Sweeney led the Tigers with medalist and co-medalist rounds of 46 and 48, respectively. Josie Pettitt had a 50 and Abby Danner a 51, with cards of 52 from Mallory Schultes and of 54 from Sydney Haakenson not used for the team total.

Dalton Scott shot a 61 to pace the Perry boys, with Isaac Noble finishing with a 64, Zach Darr with a 67 and Eli Noble with a 76. Sebastian Hernandez also played, recording a 77.

Jack Peterson won a tiebreaker with North Polk teammate Brendan Bayeur and Winterset’s Drake Knoblach for medalist honors after all three shot a 46. Bayeur then topped Knoblach in a tiebreaker for runner-up honors.

Also scoring for North Polk was Andrew Vincent (48) and Drake Johnson (50), with Clayton Hagberg (54) and Drew Blanchard (63) also in completion.

Tage Kaldenberg (47), Tate Kerns (51) and Ty Thompson (54) were the other scorers for Winterset, with the Huskies not using rounds of 60 from Jaden Sweeney and of 67 from Hunter Farr.

The Perry boys will host the Bluejay Invitational Saturday, with both Perry squads hosting the annual Witmer-Dunphy Coed Invite Monday.
