GUTHRIE CENTER — Bryce Achenbach limited the AC/GC offense to two hits while striking out four in picking up a five-inning win Monday.
The Woodward-Granger junior won the WCAC contest thanks to a 13-run onslaught that ended the game early and lifted the Hawks to 11-0 overall and 9-0 in conference play. The Chargers fell to 0-11, 0-9 with the loss.
Joe Rhodes and Trevor Simmons each hit a double and a single, with both driving in three runs apiece. Jack Grell added three hits and scored three times, with Achenbach helping himself by recording a trio of singles.
Reese Jamison had two hits, walked twice and scored three runs, with Worth Henry scoring twice after contributing two hits of his own. Hunter Pifer had a single and two runs scored, as did Alex Bice.
W-G hosts Panorama tonight for a WCAC varsity twin bill, with Thursday a varsity double header at Van Meter that is certain to have major implications in the race for the conference crown.
