FORT DODGE — Five Jayettes dove into the Fort Dodge pool Saturday to compete in a regional meet, capping the season for the Perry squad.
Senior Sarah Vaughn went out on a high note, swimming a season-best time of 6 minutes, 10.85 seconds to place 13th and score four points in the 500 freestyle. She dropped 6.76 seconds in reaching the new mark.
Fellow senior Avery Miner also had reason to smile, as she touched in a personal-best 1:04.75 in the 100 freestyle, shaving 2.56 ticks off her previous swiftest effort.
Amanada Holwegner reached the wall in 28.78 seconds in the 50 free, a drop of .28 seconds, with her 1:20.62 in the 100 breaststroke a new personal best by the sizable margin of 5.02 seconds.
Rhylan Agan swam in the 200 free, finishing .25 seconds faster than her best time (Agan’s final time was not provided).
The 200 free relay of Holwegner, Agan, Miner and Gracie Phillips was 10th, scoring 14 points (time not provided).
Perry’s best finish came in the first race of the meet, the 200 medley relay. The Jayettes shaved 4.02 seconds off their best time from the season to score 22 points for eighth place in 2:15.24. Phillips, Holwegner, Vaughn and Miner were the quarter responsible.
