Never before have the world’s healthcare workers been asked to risk so much for so many. From front lines on every continent, healthcare professionals — doctors, nurses, paramedics, caregivers of all stripes — are treating to sick in the novel coronavirus global pandemic.
The oldest have borne most, of course, and workers in long-term care facilities bear a special duty in tending to the needs of out most vulnerable elders, who are otherwise cut off from family and friends in their hours of greatest need.
As a sign of thanks to these caregivers, a sign was erected in the yard of the Rowley Masonic Community in the 3000 block of Willis Avenue. The sign read, “Heroes Work Here. Thank You.”
