PLEASANTVILLE — The Panorama grapplers completed the 2020 portion of their schedule Saturday with a trip to the WCAC tourney. The Panthers were fifth in the team standings and crowned a pair of champions. The action came after the team competed Thursday in a quadrangular meet at Ogden.
Interstate-35 won the conference meet with 209 points, with Woodward-Granger second at 189.5. Van Meter/Earlham (166), Ogden (142), Panorama (110.5), Pleasantville (96), West Central Valley (92), and AC/GC (77) rounded out the field.
Class 2A No. 2 Wyatt Appleseth won the 160-pound bracket. Appleseth used a pin, a technical fall, and a second pin to win the bracket and improve to 20-0 for the season.
Cooper Anderson (17-0) also remained unbeaten after winning at 220 pounds. He competed twice, scoring pin fall victories in both matches.
Logan Christe (17-3) was 2-1 with a pin and a decision in placing third at 126 pounds, with Ryan Fees (13-8) fourth at 152 after a 2-2 mark that included a pin and a win by decision while Jared Henderson (11-8) was 1-2 with a win by pin in finishing fourth at heavyweight.
Cayden Van Meer (8-10) was 2-2 with two pins at 145, with Landon Goodenberger (10-11) 2-2 with a pair of pins at 170, with each finishing fifth. Also fifth was 113-pounder Maddox Nunn (4-10), who dropped both of his matches.
Panorama topped AC/GC, 38-36, Thursday, but was topped, 48-34, by Ogden, and 54-30 by Southeast Valley. Ogden beat AC/GC, 42-32, with SEV besting Ogden, 45-30, and AC/GC, 51-18, in the other duals.
Appleseth, Andersen, and Fees were all 3-0 for the Panthers, with Nunn, Christe, and Henderson each 2-1.
Kael Wirt (160 pounds) was 1-0, with Van Meer and Goodenberger each winless in three matches.
