BOONE — Perry was joined by Algona in swimming in a double-dual at Boone Tuesday, a format in which each team is scored individually against each other.

Boone defeated Perry, 68-33, and Algona, 80-21, with Perry scoring a 51-35 win over Algona. The Jayettes are now 4-2 on the season.

Freshman Quin Mahler-Moreno broke the school record in the 200 freestyle — which had been reset earlier this season by senior Jaylene Karolus — with a clocking of 2 minutes, 2.56 seconds. She was first against both opponents, with Jenna Nelson second against both schools in 2:23.99.

Mahler-Moreno was a double-winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.94), with Sophia McDevitt first to the wall overall in the 100 butterfly (1:06.97). McDevitt was second to Boone and first against Algona in the 200 IM in 2:26.44.

Zoe Hibbert was 2-1 (Boone/Algona) in the 100 free (time n/a), with Lilley Riley 2/1 (6:24.07) and Emily Dowd 4/3 (7:27.68) in the 500 free.

Nelson was third (31.28) and Dowd fourth (31.88) in the 50 free, with Riley third to both foes in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.61).

Perry was 2-1 in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay in 2:09.56 and 4:04.14, respectively. McDevitt, Hibbert, Mahler-Moreno, and Riley swam in both races, with lead swimmer McDevitt setting new personal-best times on her opening leg (the only section officially times for such purposes).

Dowd, Hibbert, Nelson and Hailey Peterson competed for the Jayettes in the 200 free relay, finishing third to Boone and first to Algona. The quartet clocked in at 2:13.92.
