STATE CENTER, Iowa — West Marshall hosted a wrestling quadrangular Thursday, with Perry winning one of their three duals.
Perry topped Saydel, 39-23, but fell to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 60-6, and to West Marshall, 65-13. West Marshall defeated CGD, 36-30, and Saydel, 66-18, with CGD a 63-16 victor against Saydel.
Cole Nelson continued to shine at 138 pounds for the Bluejays with a trio of wins. He scored pins in 3 minutes, 18 seconds and in 32 ticks while also recording a 9-0 major decision.
Heavyweight Alan Gomez was 2-1 with a pin in 3:04 and a forfeit, with Tanner Burgin 1-2 at 145 pounds with a 9-2 decision while Jose Chavez had a 7-5 win in Sudden Victory I to finish 1-2 at 160.
Kain Killmer (170), Brian Hernandez (182), Chelsea Mickles (195) and Brian Alejandro (220) were all 1-2, with each winning on a forfeit.
Also in action but winless in three bouts were Cristobal Turrado (120), Alex Fickbohm (132) and Jovani Ortiz (152). Gavin Kerchival (120) was 0-2, with Taylor Atwell at 113, Aidan Carlson at 106 and Hailey Peterson at 106 all unable to collect a win in single bouts.
Perry is slated to host the Bluejay Tournament Saturday, with the start time pushed back to 11 a.m.
