Road-raging West Des Moines man arrested Friday

Karson Kenneth Olerich, 24, of West Des Moines was arrested Friday on charges of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

A road-rage incident in the Jordan Creek Town Center neighborhood issued in charges Friday afternoon against a West Des Moines man.

Karson Kenneth Olerich, 24, of 7425 Wistful Vista Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The incident occurred about 5:45 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Jordan Creek Parkway, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded.

The victim told the officers that Olerich “got into his vehicle and attempted to take his cell phone,” according to court records, and in the process Olerich allegedly “struck him in the face multiple times.”

The officers observed on the victim “a cut in his inner lip, a red mark above his left eyebrow and a red bump between his eyebrows with a bump,” according to court records.

Olerich also allegedly broke off the passenger-side mirror from the victim’s vehicle, according to court records.

Damage to the victim’s vehicle was estimated at $600.

Olerich is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
