Fireworks are set off in the evening, but the local version of the Independence Day tradition received quite the bang Tuesday morning when Fareway Stores, Inc. presented the Perry Chamber of Commerce with a donation of $2,273.63 at their Perry store for the Fourth of July fireworks display.
A “Round-Up at the Regsister” campaign was recently held over a 10-day period at the local grocer, with customers able to help the fireworks drive by “rounding up” their bill. Shoppers had the option of “rounding-up” to the next dollar or of providing an additional donation at the time of their grocery purchase.
“We are proud to present this contribution to the Perry Chamber for use during their Fourth of July celebration,” Store Manager Travis Landgrebe said. “Thanks to our generous customers for their contributins, and for going above and beyond to make the Round-Up campaign successful.”
“Fareway is a strong partner of the Perry Chamber of Commerce,” said Bob Wilson, Executive Director of the Perry Chamber. “We appreciate the support of the Fareway Store staff and their customers to help provide this considerable contribution. We are looking forward to a great Fourth of July celebration, thanks in part to their assistance.”
Wilson noted that over $13,000 had been raised to date for the annual pyrotechnics showcase, and that the Chamber of Commerce would happily accept any further donations.
