Absentee voting on Law Enforcement Center bond starts March 31

ADEL — Absentee voting starts March 31 for the countywide special election on the $22.9 million Law Enforcement Center, according to Dallas County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Julia Helm.

Election day is Tuesday, May 2.

Voters may cast absentee ballots in the Dallas County Auditor’s Office at 210 N. 10th St. in Adel during regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until May 1. The auditor’s office will also be open May 1 until 5 p.m.

Helm said absentee ballots must be requested in writing. Forms are available at the auditor’s office, on the Dallas County website and at the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.

Voters should note the following dates:

  • All requests for mailed ballots must be received in the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. April 28.
  • Ballots requested through the mail must be postmarked by midnight May 1 and be received in the auditor’s office by noon May 8.
  • All county offices will be closed Friday, April 14.

  1. This is so absurd. They can’t seem to come up with funding for better schools and more treatment facilities for addicts, but they can always find the money for another jail. That should tell you something.
