An Adel man was arrested Sunday after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a dispute with his neighbor.
Carter Dean Slater, 21, of 618 Court St., Adel, was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
The incident began about 2:45 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Court Street, where Slater allegedly “unlawfully displayed a firearm during an altercation with a neighbor,” according to court records.
Slater allegedly “admitted to removing a firearm from the trunk of his vehicle and loading a round into the chamber during an argument with his neighbor,” according to court records.
Both the victim and a witness claimed that they saw Slater “remove the firearm from his trunk and pull the slide back, loading a round into the chamber.”
Slater was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 27 in Dallas County District Court.
