An Adel man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Saturday after allegedly making false claims about his noisy neighbors.

Thomas Jay Lilley, 50, of 905 Bryan St., Adel, was charged with third-degree harassment.

The incident began about 2:15 a.m. Dec. 14, when Lilley called Dallas County 911 and said that “the fuckin’ neighbor over here on the west is crankin’ his bass like the other fuckin’ neighbor did before I clocked him with a baseball bat,” according to court records.

According to court records, Lilley called 911 again at 3:12 a.m. and claimed the Bryan Street victims were “crankin’ the bass again” and called 911 again at 4:54 a.m. and claimed the victims were “crankin’ the bass again.”

An officer of the Adel Police Department responded to each call but “did not hear any loud bass or music coming from” the victims’ residence, according to court records. The officer woke the victims after Lilley’s first and second calls.

The officer interviewed the victims later that day, and they told they officer “that they weren’t playing loud bass music earlier this morning and that they were both sleeping,” according to court records.

A warrant for Lilley’s arrest was ordered Dec. 16 in Dallas County District Court and served Dec. 17. Lilley was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Jan. 20 in Dallas County District Court.

Lilley was convicted of assault in 2005 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of fourth-degree criminal mischief in 2016 in Guthrie County District Court.
