An Adel woman was arrested on an Adel Police Department warrant Tuesday after allegedly misreporting a vehicle as stolen.
Johneene Renee Sexton, 55, of 1316 Orchard St., Adel, was charged with making a false report to law enforcement authorities.
According to court records, shortly after midnight on Aug. 21, Sexton reported to law enforcement that a vehicle was stolen from her Orchard Street residence three hours prior to her report.
Investigation by officers of the Adel Police Department determined that Sexton and another person “had been in the vehicle, and it had broke down at 34000 block of R Avenue” several hours earlier, according to court records.
The vehicle was later located in the 24000 block of Old Highway 6, according to court records.
An arrest warrant was ordered Sept. 3 in Dallas County District Court and served Sept. 15.
Sexton is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bind. She is scheduled for an initial appearance Wednesday in Dallas County District Court.
