An Adel woman was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting her sister during the course of an argument Sunday.

Melissa May Wiederin, 47, of 29456 Old Portland Road, Adel, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began about 1 p.m. Sunday in the 29400 block of Old Portland Road, where an officer of the Adel Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officer made contact with the victim, who said that Wiederin “became upset” and “threw her cup of coffee at her and then came at her and began to punch her multiple times in the face and head,” according to court records.

The officer made contact Monday with Wiederin, “who confirmed she threw the first punch and hit” the victim “several times in the face yesterday at their place of residence,” according to court records.

The officer observed on the victim “a small laceration on the bridge of her noise and a red mark by her left eye” and “a small patch of hair pulled out during the altercation,” according to court records.

Wiederin is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.

Wiedering was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2020 in Dallas County District Court.
