The Perry Police Department and Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire about 4 p.m. Saturday at the Valley Railroad Apartments.

Burning food triggered the fire alarm at the Valley Railroad Apartments in Perry Saturday afternoon, bringing a swift public safety response.

No injuries were reported.

The alarm was reported about 4 p.m. at the apartment house at 2902 Iowa St., formerly known as the Quail Run Apartments. The caller said smoke was coming from the kitchen area of one of the units.
