A helpful neighbor transported firefighters about one-half mile to the site of a timber fire south of Minburn Saturday evening.

Firefighters fought by hand a rural fire in timber in the 21700 block of N Avenue south of Minburn Saturday evening.

There were no injuries in the fire that was reported about 4:15 pm on the edge of farmland owned by Timothy and Jacqueline Kreifels of Atlantic and lying west of U.S. Highway 169.

The Minburn Volunteer Fire Department responded, with mutual aid from the Adel Volunteer Fire Department and the Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department.

With the ground too wet to risk driving tanker trucks off the roadway, the firefighters parked their vehicles along 210th Place, and Timothy Kreifels himself transported firefighters the half-mile south to the site of the fire. A nearby neighbor also transported firefighters using an ATV.

The cause of the fire in under investigation at this hour.

The Dallas County EMS also responded.
