The screening is Monday, Oct. 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Drake University’s Sussman Theater at 2875 University Ave. in Des Moines.

“The New Americans: The Nigerians” follows the Nwidor family, refugees who are finally able to come to Chicago after fleeing their country and spending years in a refugee camp.

Between Two Worlds: Identity and Acculturation looks at how immigrants react and adjust to living in a new country and culture and how they bridge the divide between the traditions and values of their native countries.

Drake University Professor Inbal Mazar will moderate the discussion, and the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the Evans Foundation will provide free pizza, cookies and lemonade.
