Last year’s $4 million repaving of about 6 miles of County Road F31 east of Minburn will be matched next summer by a $2.5 million project on County Road F31 west of Minburn, according to plans released this week by the Dallas County Secondary Roads Department.

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors gave preliminary approval Tuesday to bid the paving project in March and start work in the late summer.

The repaving will extend along 2.2 miles of County Road F31, beginning west of the Raccoon River at Kimble Place and ending at Midland Trail on Minburn’s western boundary, according to Dallas County Assistant Engineer Andy Case.

“This will be a full-depth, perpetual asphalt pavement just like F31 to the east,” Case told the supervisors.

Case said he and Dallas County Engineer Al Miller met with representatives of Minburn Communications, which owns buried communications cable along the route. The repaving will require some cable to be relocated to “the back slope of the easement,” Case said.

The engineer’s estimated cost is $2.5 million to repave the stretch, which sees an average of 370 vehicles a day use the county farm-to-market road.

Last year’s repaving of County Road F31 was carried out by Manatts Inc. of Brooklyn, Iowa.

The Manatt’s paving crew worked steadily last summer and fall laying asphalt on a six-mile stretch of County Road F31.
