Blizzard warning expired, but Highways 141, 169, 44 impassable

The 24-hour blizzard warning issued Saturday by the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines expired at 6 p.m. Sunday, while the winter weather advisory will expire at 9 p.m. Sunday.

The NWS said areas of blowing snow could continue to significantly reduce visibility.

The Iowa Department of Transportation has classified U.S. Hghway 169 and Iowa Highway 141 and Iowa Highway 44 as 100 percent snow and ice covered and said travel is not advised.
