Bock Family Foundation fall grants fund 19 projects at $56,078

The Bock Family Foundation Inc. of Perry, established in 2002 by the estates of Larry Bock and Barbara Bock, chose 19 groups to receive $59,078 in grant funds in the fall 2018 granting cycle.

Grant awards were distributed Monday in a presentation ceremony held at the Perry Public Library, with Bock Family Foundation Executive Director Scott Finneseth presenting the checks and thanking the groups for their service to Dallas County’s communities.

Other board member of the Bock Family Foundation include President Brent Halling, Vice President Harly Weyer, Secretary Joyce Van Kirk and directors Jean Bromert, John Powell, Paul Burrow and Jon S. Peters.

Since its founding, the Bock Family Foundation Inc. has awarded grants exceeding $1,815,000, including grants awarded in the fall grant cycle. The recipients of fall 2018 grant awards are:

  • City of Perry Police Department: $3,500 for automated external defibrillators for patrol cars
  • City of Perry Parks and Recreation: $2,000 to update locker room floors at the McCreary Community Center
  • Dallas County Conservation Board: $6,000 for Raccoon River Valley Trail connector phase II
  • Mercy Foundation: $1,500 for food and supplies for The Blessing Box
  • Dallas County Hospital Foundation: $4,000 for Vein Illuminator device
  • Perry Area Child Development Center: $6,500 for scholarships
  • Art on the Prairie: $1,908 for Prairie Lane alleyway
  • Dallas County Habitat for Humanity: $5,000 for home ownership opportunity
  • Perry Community School District: $1,500 towards storage units near ballfields
  • PACES: $8,500 for Pre-kindergarten to fifth grade 2018-2019 programming
  • Perry Area Emergency Food Council: $2,000 to purchase meat & other items for Food Pantry
  • Perry Ministerial Association: $3,500 for the Good Samaritan Fund
  • Perry Fine Arts: $650 for Quarter 515 Concert
  • HomeCare Services Inc. of Dallas County: $2,500 for insulated bags/food trays for Meals on Wheels
  • Washington Township Consolidated School Foundation: $2,000 to repair outside walls in the Washington History Room
  • Minburn Area Firefighters Association: $1,000 to upgrade emergency lighting on tanker truck
  • Woodward Public Library: $1,020 for computer, copier, digitizing records, cabinets.
  • Faith’s Flock Preschool, Adel: $2,000 to purchase gross motor development equipment
  • American Legion Post 717, Granger: $1,000 towards remodeling kitchen and restrooms

The Bock Family Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit supporting organization for the benefit of organizations operated for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes. Funded projects must be located in Dallas County. Applicants must be a nonprofit organization or a unit of state or local government.

The Foundation awards grants in the fall and the spring. Application deadlines are Sept. 1 and March 1 respectively.
