April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the 2024 theme is “Building a Hopeful Future, Together,” with the Dallas County Children’s Advocacy Council encouraging Dallas County residents to take action to create great childhoods for all children.

Child Abuse Prevention Month celebrates the small actions each of us can take that make a big impact on the well-being of our children. One small action by which we can show support for child abuse prevention is by wearing blue on Blue Out Day which will be held on Friday, April 5.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month, keep in mind that:

  • Children are locally grown. We work together to cultivate relationships, connections and environments that help every child thrive.
  • Children and families are our greatest natural resource. We all have a stake in preparing children to grow up to be healthy and thriving members of our community.
  • The best time to plant seeds of support for all children is now. Every season presents a new opportunity to promote a young person’s physical, emotional and social development.
  • Each family is unique, but all parents and caregivers need support sometimes. We can all help by ensuring children have positive experiences and families have the resources they need, when they need them.

Learn how you can plant the seeds of a better tomorrow for children and families in your community by visiting the Dallas County Children’s Advisory Council Facebook page.
