A vehicle struck a power pole in the 300 block of Willis Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday when it was forced off the road by someone driving a red Ford Explorer, according to an occupant of the wrecked vehicle, a Chrysler 300 M.

The occupant of the Chrysler said they were traveling westbound on Willis Avenue and had just passed W. Eighth Street when the red Ford Explorer approached rapidly from the rear, drew alongside the Chrysler and forced it off the roadway and into the power pole.

A Perry Police Department officer quickly arrived on the scene. Preliminary reports said the disabled vehicle was on fire, but the reports proved unfounded.
