Perry's Grace Marburger buried this 3-pointer despite the defensive effort of Carlisle's Abby Curtis in their Jan. 20 meeting.

The halftime score of Friday’s Raccoon River Conference girls contest between 13th-ranked Carlisle and host Perry stood at 27-26 in favor of the home team.

All that changed almost immediately in the third quarter, as the Wildcats (12-3, 6-2) nearly doubled their offensive output from the first 16 minutes in the second half to blow open the game and claim a 75-50 victory. Carlisle completed a season sweep of Perry (10-4, 4-3) with the win, as they had posted a 56-38 win Dec. 9.

Foul trouble had perennial Wildcat all-stater Agatha Beier on the bench for most of the first half, a situation Perry used to full advantage in taking a 12-11 lead after one frame. The hosts shut down 6-foot freshman Meredith Hoffman in the first half as well, helping the hosts grab the one-point advantage at the break.

Hoffman went to work right out of the locker room, scoring all six of her points in the first moments of the third quarter as the Wildcats spurted to a 37-30 lead, with Perry’s lone points a Grace Marburger 3-pointer.

Beier then got into the act, draining three of her five second-half treys to spark a 17-2 run over the final four minutes of the quarter as the margin swelled to 54-32. Perry was able to play nearly even the rest of the way and were outscored just 21-18 in the fourth quarter, but by then the damage had long since been done.

Jo Diw knocked down four triples to lead Perry with 18 points, while Marburger had three treys en route to 12 points. Molly Lutmer added 10 points and Emma Olejniczak eight — both hit one 3-pointer — with two points from Grace Stewart closing Perry’s scoring list.

Beier led all scorers with 22 points, with Molly Hoekstra adding 17, nine of which came on three first-half 3-pointers. Caitlyn Clair sank one triple and provided nine points, with Ceora LeClaire, Abby Curtis and Hoffman each scoring six points while Hailey Brunsen added five and Madison Hoekstra and Emily Loomis two points apiece.

Perry was 9-of-14 at the foul line in the loss, with Carlisle 7-of-12. Additional statistical information was not available.

The Jayettes will host Carroll Tuesday and visit ADM Friday before playing host Boone Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. in a girls-only makeup game from Jan. 10.
