Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in an empty trailer Wednesday at Peters Service Center in Perry. There were no injuries in the blaze, which was reported about 9 p.m.
The Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders and Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire in the 40-foot trailer, which was parked in a row of other trailers, all owned by Tyson Fresh Meats.
“One of the shag drivers said he was here just a few minutes before,” said Jon Peters, owner of the popular gasoline retailer and truck service center, “and everything was fine then.”
The trailer was one of nine parked on the western side of the Peters lot. The unit was not in service when the fire started, and authorities seek to determine the cause of the blaze. It is unknown at this hour whether Wednesday’s high temperatures contributed to the fire.
