The Perry City Hall has extended the suspension of regular citywide garbage collection through Aug. 21 and opened all three recycling drop-off points for temporary use as garbage drop-offs.
The city issued the following update Friday afternoon on the temporary garbage arrangements:
The city of Perry is still trying to find a rental garbage truck to use to pick up residential garbage containers. We hope to find one soon, but garbage pick-up will continue to be suspended next week.
Residents may bring their garbage to the recycle dumpsters at the McCreary Community Building at 1800 Pattee St., the PHS football field parking lot in the 2700 block of Warford Street and the Perry Police Department parking lot at 908 Willis Ave.
Chains have been removed from these dumpsters to allow for easier disposal of garbage. Commercial garbage routes will continue as usual.
The dumpsters will be dumped multiple times per day and will also be dumped on Saturday so the garbage won’t pile up. Please be considerate of your fellow Perry residents and only use these dumpsters for your regular household garbage. Please do not dump furniture, appliances or other large items in the dumpsters.
